I'm going to try and not gush too much about the show I saw last night at - but damn was it good. First off I don't understand how I've never gone to see this man in concert before last night - I've really been missing out over the last few years when Bruce has basically set up residence in the New York City area.
This wasn't your typical Springsteen show though he was showcasing music from his latest album with The Seeger Session Band. There was a total of 18 people on stage playing guitar, fiddle, banjo, accordion, piano/organ, stand-up bass, horns, pedal steel and even washboard - with a sound that could be described at times as New Orleans ragtime brass band, bluegrass, folk and country.
They ran through most of the album and even did reworked versions of Atlantic City and Johnny 99 which were stellar and essentially unrecognizable from the original versions. Unlike the Petty show that I saw earlier in the week and yes enjoyed - this show blew it out of the water (check out this from the on Petty show - kind of had to agree with it).
I might even go as far as to say this ranks up there in the top ten concerts I've seen - it was that good. Too bad that the 400 level seating was virtually empty, I guess it's hard to sell out MSG when you're not with the E Street Band and playing Born To Run or Thunder Road. If you get a chance and he's coming to your town seriously do yourself a favor and pick up a ticket it's an amazing night of music. Here's the setlist. Setlist: American Land/John Henry/O Mary Don't You Weep/Johnny 99/Old Dan Tucker/Eyes on the Prize/Jesse James/Atlantic City/Erie Canal/My Oklahoma Home/If I Should Fall Behind/Mrs. McGrath/How Can a Poor Man Stand Such Times and Live?/Jacob's Ladder/We Shall Overcome/Open All Night/Pay Me My Money Down Encore: Bring Them Home/My City of Ruins/Ramrod/You Can Look (But You Better Not Touch)/When the Saints Go Marching In.
Off to shortly for the / show and later this week will be hitting the show their with his Seeger Sessions Band - pulled up a ridiculous seat so had to buy it. From what I've heard Bruce has like 20 twenty playing on stage with him - though I think that's only a few more then are actually in the E Street Band. It'll be my first time seeing The Boss and though it's not going to be a classic three hour marathon show of the hits still extremely excited about it - I really dig the new album.
Here's a couple of Bruuuuuuuuuce shows off the current tour. Miss those days of watching music videos all afternoon?? Well seems like the people at do too, so they've compiled a list of ' - with videos from (does that site every stop giving us hours of endless entertainment?). There is no real criteria to how they made their selections, but here's the process in their words. 'Sharing 100 of our favorite music videos; simply, dozens of clips that, for various reasons (because they're so good, because they're so bad, because they feature the Jacksons imagining themselves as gigantic golden gods sprinkling gold dust on humanity), we enjoy watching and hope you'll enjoy as well.' So head on over their and watch everything from the Chicago Bears 'Superbowl Shuffle' to The Decemberists '16 Miltary Wives' to Nas 'One Mic'. Was just reading this about late-night set from Friday night from coverage.
Bonnaroo favorites My Morning Jacket ushered in the midnight hour with squalls of Crazy Horse-worthy fury. The quintet delivered a more than three-hour set that sported a guest turn from friend and singer Andrew Bird for an epic take on another classic rock moment, 'It Makes No Difference' by the Band. MMJ recently recorded the track for an upcoming Band tribute album at singer/drummer Levon Helm's barn studio in Woodstock, N.Y.
While yes I'm looking forward to downloading the set, I think I was more into the fact that they recorded a track for a tribute album for The Band. I need some more info on that, so if anyone has any please pass it along. Haven't gotten a chance to watch anything since Friday, but currently really enjoying the set. Is simply amazing. Wasn't sure how he was going to fit in with this band, but he's doing a great job so far. Definitely getting me even more psyched for the shows I'm seeing in a couple of weeks.
Even more exciting is the debut of G.R.A.B. Which is on after the Phil set. Kudos to the people for keeping this top secret - their performace was originally billed as the 'Late Night Super Jam'. Can't wait to check it out!!! So I've spent the majority of my afternoon glued to my computer screen. I saw bits and pieces of from what I saw I enjoyed - nothing groundbreaking, but some solid reggae. Next up was who dubbed his band the Tennessee Cops for the day.
First time hearing him live and thoroughly impressed. Devendra and his band of long haired friends looks liked they just stepped out of Haight-Ashbury circa 1966. If you haven't heard his music I highly recommend picking up - it's a mix of psychedelic-rock/freak folk and soul. Take a listen to '. Was up next and simply brought it for their entire 2 hour set. I remember seeing them back in 2001 and just wasn't that blow away by it. After seeing their set today I'm ready to go on tour with them when they hit the road later this year - at least that's the rumor.
I don't think I've seen Trey play that inspired in a long time - he was locked in with Les and Stewart. They ran through just about all of and really jammed out the songs. When the downloads start rolling in next week I strongly think everyone should grab it, it's going to be one the sets that everyone will be talking about when they return. Right now watching - who's brought out, David Rawling and the lead singer of the to play with him so far. More on his set later.
Don't know how much of the Bonnaroo live webcast I'll be able to see after today - hopefully I'll have some time though. I did watch earlier which I enjoyed - pretty much his standard set. The audience seemed to be digging it and his cover of Dr. Dre's 'Bitches Ain't Shit' is truly brilliant.
It was great seeing all those people singing-a-long to a gansta rap song that he's turned into a ballad. Download of version of it. Looking forward to Devendra Banhart, Oysterhead and Bright Eyes later on tonight. Probably skip on watching Tom Petty since I'll be seeing him next week. Head here for the.

The new album Modern Times is set to hit streets on August 29th.
Here's a little preview of it from. Bob Dylan's new album, Modern Times, is due out on August 29th. Times, which Dylan produced himself, mixes elements of 2001’s Love and Theft – blues variations (think “Cry A While”) and whimsical ballads (think “Floater”) – with the darker, swampier vibe of the Daniel Lanois-produced classics Time Out of Mind and Oh Mercy.
Only Dylan’s current touring band plays on the new one: ringing in our ears was the bone-chilling vamp “Ain’t Talkin’”, which may be Dylan’s most powerful album-closing epic ever. Other song titles include “Thunder On the Mountain,” “Spirit on the Water,” “Workingman’s Blues,” “When the Deal Goes Down” and “Neddy Moore.” Before the release of Modern Times, Dylan will be doing another summer tour of minor league ballparks, with Merle Haggard opening. If you were a fan of the late, great then check out keyboardist Brian Felix's new project Drop Q. They're got some tunes up on their page, so check that out (and of course be their friend too). Here's a brief bio on them.
DROP Q is Kris Myers on drums (Umphrey's McGee), Brian Felix on keys (OM Trio), Chris Clemente on bass (Kick the Cat), and Kalyan Pathak on Percussion (Fareed Haque Group). This veritable 'Supergroup' of Chicago based musicians. With a focus on Improvised Electronica and Drum n Bass, all 4 members bring their substantial jazz and fusion chops to the table for a totally unique experience every time they hit the stage.
Check out their set from this year's Summer Camp. Got a busy three days ahead of me - three shows in three nights. First up tonight and at the. Mainly going to see dios (malos) who I caught at the Great Bamboolzed a few years back playing on a side stage - and they were awesome. I remember them being pissed off about something and demanding the free beer they were promised. They were also involved in one of the stupider lawsuits around. Former frontman and 'originator' of the metal horns served the band with a cease and desist order citing potential confusion over their similar names - I swear I'm not making this up read about it.
Tomorrow night is at for their album release party and Wednesday the so five minutes ago blogger band at - more on those show later in the week. I'm also hoping to get my hands on a ticket for for their Friday night show, so if anyone out there has an extra let me know. Has been on the fritz for the last day or so couldn't get a post up yesterday. What I did do yesterday though was win free tickets to the album release party at on Tuesday night.
Pretty excited for it, though I do now have to get rid of my tickets for their Central Park show (one of my favorite places to see a show) for that same night. Think it's always cool to see a band that plays much larger venues come back and play a pretty small one - should be a great night. Bringing my friend who's by far the biggest Panic fan I know. Here's a couple of quick facts. WSP has played Irving 5 times, but hasn't played their in over 11 years - the last time being a two night run - April 7 & 8 of 1995.
In other Panic news they'll be playing on June 15th, so tune it for that. Here they are playing 'Give' on The Late Show from back in '01. Kind of weird going to an arena show of a band who's music I don't really know that well. We walked in around 7:40ish and had already hit the stage (causing us to miss out on them doing The Band's 'It Makes No Difference' - which I'm listening to right now and would have been the highlight of the night for me). Jim James & Co. Rocked a mostly empty arena though for a good 40 minutes. Fourth time seeing them and it's been an interesting progression of venues -, Great Bamboolzed Festival, and Continental Airlines Arena.
If there is any band out there ready to rock arena-sized venues it's them. Buy their records and go see them when they hit your town. As for - well I certainly wasn't blown away, it was an enjoyable show though. They definitely come to play and deliver on that with almost 2 1/2 hours of music and playing their last four or five songs with the arena lights on - playing well past the 11 PM cut-off they have their. We were stuck pretty much as far from the stage as you can get for most of the show, but by encore Dan from managed to sneak us down about as close to the stage as you could be without being on the floor. It was like seeing two different shows - good work Dan!!
For those interested here's the setlists. Eddie Vedder Solo Acoustic No Surrender My Morning Jacket It Makes No Difference (w. Former keyboardist died of unknown causes yesterday at age 55. Here's the obit from. Earlier today, June 2, Grateful Dead keyboardist Vince Welnick died of unknown causes. Welnick, who played keyboards in the Grateful Dead from 1990 through 1995, cut his teeth performing in the California shock-rock band the Tubes in the 1970s. During his tenure with the Grateful Dead, Welnick contributed a number of original songs to the group's canon, most notably Samba in the Rain.
Bruce Hornsby helped usher Welnick into the Dead, playing piano by his side through 1991. While Welnick did not participate in any of the Dead's studio sessions, his work can be heard on both the experimental live albums Infrared Roses (1991) and Grayfolded: Transitive Axis, as well as a handful of Dick's Picks releases. Following the passing of Jerry Garcia, Welnick urged the group to continue on, though his bandmates ultimately decided to retire the Grateful Dead name. Although Welnick did not participate in tours under the Others Ones or Dead monikers, he did perform in both RatDog and the Mickey Hart Band. He also formed his own group, the Missing Man Formation, which featured Steve Kimock (guitar), Bobby Vega (bass) and the Tubes' Prairie Prince (drums). More recently, Welnick clocked in time with Dead-inspired outfits Gent Treadly and Jack Straw. He is the fourth Grateful Dead keyboardist to pass, following Ron 'Pigpen' McKernan, Keith Godchaux and Brent Mydland.
Welnick was not without his demons. In 2003, the keyboard told Relix/Jambands.com, 'I tried to off myself in the RatDog bus in '95, right before Christmas, right after The Dead died.
I pretty much hit bottom there and I'm sure that hasn't helped my popularity with Bobby. I think that shook him up so much, and the other members of the band so much, that it contributed to why I am no longer being called to participate.'
But, he did avoid certain trappings. 'I coughed a pretty good attitude laughs, but I didn't get into heroin,' Welnick says. 'I never used needles, never used freebase and that kind of stuff. I drew that line as a kid. No needles, no freebase, no heroin and never broke that promise myself.' Welnick, who was set to play a number of festivals and solo dates this summer, leaves behind a wife, Lorie. Is going to be a star.
Sure she's going to get the inevitable comparisons, but they should read something like this.Grace Potter & The Nocturnals are like Norah Jones meets. Really dug their set. Go buy their cd! Thought it was a great show, though a bit on the long side. They came on around 10:30 and played two sets which ended around 1:20ish. I think they should have stuck to one long set instead of two, but the band was having a lot of fun up there. They played a mix of twangy country tunes both covers and originals.
And if you haven't heard already stopped by and sat in for most of the show - which was an added bonus and so was the raging Possum in the second set. When the torrent is up I'll post it. Definitely worth giving a listen to. Head on over to for Ace's thoughts on the show -.
And check out some photos from -.
Torrent Download Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers - Discography - 320 kbps. Artist: Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Title Of Album: Discography Year Of Release: 1976-2014 Genre: Rock, Heartland rock, Blues rock, Hard rock Quality: MP3 Bitrate: 320 kbps Total: 23 Albums Total Size: 3,76 Gb Website: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is an American rock band from Gainesville, Florida. In 1976, the bands original lineup was Tom Petty as the primary vocalist and guitar player, Mike Campbell as the lead guitarist, Ron Blair on bass, Stan Lynch on drums, and Benmont Tench on keyboards. The band has largely maintained this lineup, with a few exceptions. In 1982, Blair, who was tired of the touring lifestyle, left the band. Blairs replacement, Howie Epstein, was with the band for the next twenty years.
When Epstein died in 2002, Blair returned to the Heartbreakers. In 1994, Lynch, who left the band, was replaced by Curt Bisquera and Steve Ferrone. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were on the forefront of the heartland rock movement, alongside artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Bob Seger, which arose in the late 1970s and 1980s. The genre eschews the synthesizer-based music and fashion elements being popularized in the 1980s, such as synthpop and New Romanticism in favor of a straightforward classic rock sound and lyrics based on relatable, blue collar issues. Petty and the Heartbreakers are known for hit singles such as 'American Girl', 'Breakdown', 'The Waiting', 'Learning to Fly', 'Refugee' and 'Mary Janes Last Dance'. While the heartland rock movement fizzled in the 1990s, the band remained active and popular. They still tour regularly and continue to record albums.
Their most recent, Hypnotic Eye, was released on July 25, 2014. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have sold more than 80 million records worldwide, making them one of the worlds best-selling bands of all time. Although most of their material is produced and performed under the name 'The Heartbreakers', Petty has released three solo albums, the most successful being 1989s Full Moon Fever. In these releases, members of the band contributed as studio musicians.

Petty’s tales of American losers and dreamers were simple and direct, but emotionally charged. The Heartbreakers were a lean, tight band that could handle hard rock & roll and melodic pop equally well. The group gained critical attention and solid sales with their first album, but 1979’s Damn the Torpedos was their commercial breakthrough, selling over two million copies; it couldn’t have come at a better time, since Petty filed for bankruptcy before its release. During the ’80s, Petty sold consistently well, as he expanded his sound with the release of each album. In 1989, he released his first solo album, Full Moon Fever, which became his biggest hit yet.
That momentum carried over into the next Heartbreakers release, 1991’s Into the Great Wide Open, which went platinum. As they were preparing their next album, the group released a greatest-hits album in 1993 which contained the hit single, “Mary Jane’s Last Dance.” Greatest Hits was the last album the group released on MCA Records. In 1994, Petty began a new contract with Warner Bros, releasing Wildflowers toward the end of that year; Wildflowers became another multi-platinum success for him. In 1995, MCA Records released a five-disc box set called Playback. In the summer of 1996, Petty & the Heartbreakers released Songs and Music from She’s the One.
The Rick Rubin production Echo followed three years later. 2002 saw the release of The Last DJ, a scathing attack on the corporate greed inherent in the music business. It was followed in 2006 by a Petty solo album, Highway Companion. Another Heartbreakers album, Mojo, appeared on Reprise Records in 2010. Returning to their rehearsal space, The Clubhouse, in 2011, Petty & the Heartbreakers spent time demo’ing and recording what would become their 13th studio album.
The harder, rockier, Hypnotic Eye was scheduled for a July 2014 release. STUDIO: 1976. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers (1989, MCA, MCAD-10135, USA) 1976.
